Let us be the change we want to see.

How can we ever solve racial in equality in Wilsonville? My understanding is that racism inequity impacts us on an individual, relational, and institutional level. The following list attempts to provide a list of small actions that will lead to big change:

  1. Examine your racial bias and reflect upon it . Regardless of our skin color, we have been impacted by racism. Take this survey to help understand how you have been shaped.

  2. Learn about the issues by reading, listening, and talking talk with others. If you are doing this correctly, it will be uncomfortable. Find someone different than you and approach them with a servant minded heart to deepen your relationship. It’s not about you knowing them, it’s about you understanding of the brokenness within yourself.

  3. Contact your elected and appointed officials. Click on the images to generate an email or be directed to their website for public comment.

  4. Provide a public comment. Read about how to comment at public meetings on the Wilsonville City Council webpage

  5. Organize action on a local issue (or join one!). Check out this list of actions and “how-to” guides from Together We Will. Local groups working on equity in Wilsonville will be listed at The Gaps.

  6. Conduct an asset-based survey to see what solutions already exist. Check out these Asset Based Community Development resources for more information on this approach and how to conduct a survey of your neighborhood.
